The Last Hotel for Women

Birmingham Festival Theatre's final production of its 40th Anniversary Season—The Last Hotel for Women—is the gripping story of the Fraley family and its dealings with the struggles of life in the early period of the civil rights movement. Written by BFT founder Randy Marsh, the play is set in Birmingham in May of 1961, just as the Freedom Riders have arrived in the city. It is based on the novel of the same title written by Marsh's sister, Vicki Covington, and is a fictional piece based on actual places and events. The play was first performed at BFT in July 1996. Last Hotel will be directed by Edward C. Miller.
